Last week i went to a hospital because I was having a severe problem with my leg. I was given a sonogram but no treatment by a doctor who labeled it "chronic degenerative arthritis" and gave me some pillls. He made fun of me, saying "I just got tired of it" gave me no exercises, no further offers of help, nothing. The case manager was worse. She wanted to send me to a prison for the unwanted (nursing home) where they could supposedly get me qualified for Medicaid----where also I would have my disability check taken, my fur coated companions killed, and would ultimately be able to leave in only one way, a body bag. That is medical care for the poor, the least that can be done as quickly as possible and gouge the government if you can. Poor people don't matter in Republican states.
I don't have Medicare for another 3 months and this REPUBLICAN state disqualified me for Medicaid, which I had for a while, based on assets that don't exist, maybe $2000 over their limit. The state denied me for an extra 6 months so they could save money. They admitted it.
Yes, I am among the uninsured, the second class citizens of a small, selfish, Republican dominated state. When I was in Atlanta, they would have helped me because the city at least is run by liberals and you can get past the business office if you raise enough cain that they are scared of you. I did it once! Not in the mood for a prissy clerk.
I do live and interact with poor people. I have for much of my adult life. I have been an SSI payee and an inner city teacher for most of 27 years. I saw mothers working two minimum wage jobs and leaving a 9 year old in charge of two younger siblings until 10 PM. I have seen some who would never touch drugs or alcohol and others who did. I attend a church where a member's "tithe" was cleaning the building because he is a custodian with a wife who has cerebral palsy and works at McDonalds and another who does the plumbing and electrical work at the church but she gets SSI for a variety of medical issues and cannot work on a regular basis. That is her tithe. I have let homeless people sleep at my house. I have helped people fill out their disability paperwork and taken them to their appointments. I have paid for birth certificates and state ID and I am not an organization. I just help people.
I know the poor. I love poor people, especially the tough little inner city children with nothing but love in their hearts for anyone who will treat them with love and respect. They are open, sweet, vulnerable little people. I love the parents too, the ones who only want someone to treat them like people and love their babies.
It's a myth that people can afford health insurance. If you make less than $100,000 and cannot get a policy subsidized through a job, you cannot afford it. It can easily run $1100-2000 per month. Paraprofessionals work for $6-10 per hour in public schools and bring home less than $1000 a month FOR THE HEALTH INSURANCE! And many times they are treated like crap by administrators and teachers who think they are better than the para. My friend in New Orleans who is a retired teacher (Masters Degree--not just a BS) who works under a Teach for America who does not have a clue about what he is doing. But she gets insurance!
If Obamacare had been left with the public option it would have been an excellent program. Now it will drag its feet on the implementation because, once again the SELFISH, REPUBLICAN FAKE CHRISTIAN TEABAGGERS HAVE THEIRS AND DON'T GIVE A CARE ABOUT WHETHER THEIR NEIGHBOR HAS EVEN A PLACE TO LIVE AND THEY CERTAINLY DON'T WANT TO GIVE A FEW DOLLARS A MONTH TO KEEP THEM FROM DYING UNDER A BRIDGE, OR FROM CANCER, OR IN CHILDBIRTH. Conservatives are going to answer to God for being Sodomites.
Darling, Obamacare will not lead to better health care. It will have the opposite effect. Perhaps if you lived and interacted with "poor" people, then you just might see that for many of them it isn't a matter of whether they can afford health insurance but rather a matter of priorities.

I would like Him too talk on HEALTHCARE, THE PUBLIC OPTION, or what ever else you may want to call it. For me the PUBLIC OPTION is the most important part of HEALTHCARE, without it, there is no REAL healthcare for the middle class, only for the insurance companies.
I've watched MSNBC every sence I heard Obama was running for president, and I'm still watching MSNBC, so I'm always up to date. the republicans can't fool me with their crazyness in saying NO to everything.
